CNC Machined Components

We specialise in the precision machining of high-performance plastics, including PTFE, PEEK, PFA, FEP and Nylons. Using our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities including multi-axis CNC milling, turning, and sliding head machines, we have the ability to offer a full service tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

Using the latest technologies, we precision machine fluoropolymer and high-performance materials into complex components for use throughout many markets including Aerospace & Defence, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Medical, Marine, Pharmaceutical and Telecommunications

PEEK Bearing Cages

In many applications PEEK has replaced metals such as brass or aluminium to reduce both the weight and cost of the part. PEEKs resistance to aging and the absorption of humidity makes it ideal for applications such as process pumps handling liquefied gases and hydraulic fluids. Machined bearing cages made from PEEK have high chemical resistance to lubricants and additives.

Characteristics include:

  • High operating temperature and able to withstand high speeds
  • High chemical and wear resistance
  • Good processability
  • Superior combination of strength of flexibility
  • Good tribological properties

To improve these attributes in applications requiring high speed and high temperature or those with a need for chemical resistance, PEEK can be reinforced (filled) with glass or carbon fibre.

PEEK is resistant to ammonia and sour gas and is an excellent alternative cage material to brass in applications such as Screw compressors, other applications include:

Micro Machining

Micro-machining is the foundation of a technology called Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems or MEMS. It refers to specific techniques applied to micro scale materials to enable the production of components with high precision and restrictive tolerances.

Excellent material knowledge and engineering expertise is required in the micro machining of High Performance Engineering Plastics and PTFE. Fluorocarbon are able to offer a wide range of sub-contract multi axis CNC and sliding head machining services.

  • Component diameters down to 2.0mm
  • Bore sizes to 1.5mm
  • Wall thickness as low as 1.5mm
  • Tolerances as tight as 0.02mm
  • Surface finishes of N4 (0.2 micro mm Ra)

Along with High performance stock shape plastics we also provide machining services for other materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
